Turn your oven on to 375°F. Move a rack higher up for better browning on top.

Fill a big pot with water and salt it generously. Boil the penne, but stop cooking it 2 minutes earlier than the instructions say on the box. Drain it once it's ready.

Pour the drained pasta back into the pot. Toss in the marinara and a handful (about 1/3) of the pepperoni slices. Stir it all until the pasta is covered nicely.

Spoon the pasta mix into a 9x13 dish, making sure it’s level. Scatter the mozzarella cheese across the top, then layer the leftover pepperoni evenly over the cheese.

Leave it uncovered and bake for 20 minutes until the cheese is gooey and melted. Switch to broil for a few mins (2-3) to get a crispy, golden topping. Stay alert to avoid burns!
