In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt (optional). Add the cottage cheese and mix with a spatula. Use your hands to form the dough.

Knead the dough at least 10 times. It should not be too sticky or dry. Form it into a ball, cover the bowl with a tea towel, and let it rest for 10 minutes.

After 10 minutes, preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F).

Flour your surface and roll the dough into a log. Cut it into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a 6-7 inch rope and join the ends to form a bagel. Pinch the ends to seal.

Beat the egg and brush it over each bagel. Sprinkle the sesame and poppy seed mix on top.

Bake for 25 minutes or until puffy and golden. Let the bagels cool completely for 15 minutes before serving.
