Hong Kong Style French Toast (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the Toast

01 - 6 pieces milk bread or any square shaped white bread
02 - 4 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
03 - 2 large eggs, beaten
04 - 1 cup vegetable oil or any neutral oil

→ For Toppings

05 - 2 tablespoons butter
06 - sweetened condensed milk, as needed

# Instructions:

01 - For one sandwich, evenly spread a thin layer of peanut butter on two slices of the bread from edge to edge. Leave 1 slice of bread without peanut butter. Stack the slices with peanut butter facing upwards and top with the plain slice. Lightly push down to stick together.
02 - Slice off the crusts of both sandwiches with a bread knife to create a square.
03 - In a shallow bowl, beat the eggs until smooth. Lightly coat sandwiches in the beaten eggs, being careful not to oversoak. Rest the sandwiches vertically on a plate.
04 - Heat vegetable oil in a large heavy bottomed pan over low-medium heat (300°F). Carefully lower one sandwich into the hot oil. Fry on all sides until golden brown (30 seconds on sides, 1-2 minutes on larger surfaces).
05 - Serve hot with butter and condensed milk drizzled on top.

# Notes:

01 - Can substitute peanut butter with Nutella, condensed milk, or any nut butter
02 - Can substitute condensed milk topping with honey or maple syrup
03 - Don't oversoak bread in egg mixture to prevent it from becoming too mushy
