Preheat oven to 275°F.

Pat ribs dry with a paper towel. Rub olive oil all over the rack. Combine all dry spices (salt, garlic powder, paprika, onion powder, and black pepper) in a small bowl, then rub the mixture thoroughly all over both sides of the ribs.

Wrap the seasoned ribs tightly in aluminum foil, then place on a baking sheet. Bake for 4 hours, or until the ribs are fork tender and the meat easily pulls away from the bone.

Carefully open the foil (watch out for hot steam). Brush or slather BBQ sauce all over the ribs, then return to the oven uncovered and bake for another 15 minutes.

For caramelized, slightly charred BBQ sauce, turn the broiler on for the last 2-3 minutes. Watch carefully to prevent burning.

Allow the ribs to rest for 10 minutes before cutting and serving.
