Tangy Pickle Burger Bake (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Casserole Base

01 - 1 lb ground beef or sausage
02 - 2 cups flour
03 - 1 tbsp baking powder
04 - 1 tsp dried Italian Herbs
05 - 1 tsp salt
06 - 1/4 cup olive oil
07 - 1/2 cup buttermilk (or 1/2 cup milk + 1/2 tbsp vinegar)
08 - 1/2 cup ketchup
09 - 1/4 cup mustard
10 - 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar

→ Topping

11 - 2 cups shredded lettuce
12 - 1/2 cup chopped dill pickle
13 - 1/3 cup mayo
14 - 2-3 tbsp dill pickle juice

# Instructions:

01 - Brown ground beef (or sausage) in a skillet, drain grease, and set aside.
02 - Whisk flour, baking powder, Italian herbs, and salt. Add olive oil and buttermilk (or substitute). Stir to form a slightly sticky, soft dough.
03 - Press dough into a greased 9x13 inch dish. Mix ketchup and mustard, spread over dough. Sprinkle with cooked meat and cheddar cheese.
04 - Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes or until golden brown and cheese is melted.
05 - While baking, mix mayo and pickle juice in a small bowl.
06 - Remove casserole from oven. Sprinkle with lettuce and chopped pickles, drizzle with mayo mixture. Cut into squares and serve warm.
