Cotton Candy Cookies Swirls (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ Cookie Dough

01 - 1.25 millilitres salt
02 - 1.25 millilitres baking powder
03 - 2.5 millilitres baking soda
04 - 190 grams all-purpose flour
05 - 5 millilitres cotton candy extract
06 - 5 millilitres vanilla extract
07 - 1 large egg
08 - 110 grams light brown sugar, packed
09 - 100 grams granulated sugar
10 - 115 grams unsalted butter, softened

→ Mix-ins and Decoration

11 - Blue gel food colouring (optional)
12 - Pink gel food colouring (optional)
13 - 30 grams colourful nonpareils or cotton candy sprinkles

# Instructions:

01 - Once cool, dig in and enjoy that fun texture and taste.
02 - Let cookies chill out on the tray for around 5 minutes, then pop them onto a rack so they cool all the way.
03 - Toss in the oven for about 8–10 minutes. When you see the edges firm up but the middle's still a little soft, they're perfect.
04 - Scoop out some dough with a spoon or cookie scoop, roll them into balls, and drop them on your lined baking sheet with space between each.
05 - Sprinkle in some colourful bits. If you want a swirl, split the dough, dye one chunk pink and the other blue, then wobble them together for streaks—don't go overboard mixing!
06 - Gradually mix your dry stuff into the bowl with the wet stuff. Stir just until it’s barely mixed—don’t go crazy or you’ll lose the chewy bites.
07 - In a new bowl, use your whisk to blend the flour, baking soda, powder, and salt nice and even.
08 - Crack in your egg, then pour in the vanilla and cotton candy flavors. Beat until you’ve got a smooth, even mix.
09 - Grab your big bowl. Beat together the soft butter and both kinds of sugar until what you’ve got is light and really fluffy.
10 - Flip your oven on to 175°C. Cover a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat so cookies won’t stick.

# Notes:

01 - How strong the cotton candy flavor comes through depends on your extract, so use more or less to suit you.
02 - Want a super fun look? Use pastel sprinkles.
03 - Pop them in a sealed container and your cookies will still be soft for around 5 days at room temp.
