Classic House Salad (Print Version)

# Ingredients:

→ For the salad

01 - 1 head of romaine lettuce – 4-5 cups, chopped
02 - 1 cup sliced cherry tomatoes
03 - 1/2 cup chopped cucumber
04 - 1/2 cup shredded carrots, chopped carrots, or matchstick carrots
05 - 1/3 cup diced or sliced red onion
06 - 1 cup croutons – I used Olivia's croutons which are gluten-free
07 - Grated parmesan cheese – optional for topping

→ For the vinaigrette

08 - 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
09 - 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
10 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
11 - 1 tablespoon maple syrup
12 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
13 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
14 - 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
15 - 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

# Instructions:

01 - Combine all of the vinaigrette ingredients in a mason jar fitted with a lid and shake well to emulsify. You can also add all of the ingredients to a bowl and whisk them together to combine.
02 - Assemble all of the chopped veggies (romaine, tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, onion, and croutons) in a large bowl.
03 - Pour the dressing over the salad and toss to combine everything together. Top with grated parmesan cheese, if desired.

# Notes:

01 - Chop the veggies into similar size pieces to make the salad easier to toss and eat.
02 - This salad stores best undressed. When you are ready to enjoy it, simply dress and serve!
03 - Add toppings like chopped, cooked bacon, almonds, pistachios, sliced avocado, cooked chicken breast, cooked salmon, or feta cheese.
